Belcarra Commemorative Celebrations
Belcarra Community Council will hold a Commemoration Ceremony(1916-2016) by re-enacting the last moments of the seven signatories of the proclamation in Belcarra Village.

The event will be held on Sunday 24th starting at 2pm. The event will involve the following:
  1. A Narrator/ Moderator who will provide some historic context using speeches, readings of poem's from the time, song and dramatisations of the last moments of the signatories.
  2. Local Villagers playing a number of roles including the seven signatories and other relevant people of the time.
  3. Belcarra Young Traditional Musicians will contribute music from the time as well as atmospheric music during key scenes.
  4. Relatives of the Old Irish Republican Army will perform wreath laying ceremonies at the location of the 7 trees planted in 1966 in Belcarra during the last commemorative ceremony.
This event will be recorded and those involved will be wearing themed clothes from the time and we will be using props to add to the occasion. Young and Old are welcome to attend. (And if you've got the spirit of rebellion in you, come dressed in themed clothes to make the day extra special!).
